چکیده

In this paper, we present a novel approach to estimate traffic speed using a sequence of images from an uncalibrated camera. We assert that exact calibration is not necessary to estimate speed. Instead, we use 1) geometric relationships inherently available in the image, 2) some common-sense assumptions that reduce the problem to a one-dimensional (1-D) geometry, 3) frame differencing to isolate moving edges and track vehicles between frames, and 4) parameters from the distribution of vehicle lengths, to estimate speed.

An ANP-based Model for Location of Fixed Speed Cameras

Speeding is a major cause of traffic accidents and is estimated to be the cause of about 40% of fatalities in road accidents. Speed is a major accident risk factor and affects both rate and severity of traffic accidents. This importance has led to universal use of intelligent control systems for maintaining road safety by enforcing speed regulations. In this study, a modeling is carried out by ...

Retrieval of Vehicle Trajectories and Estimation of Lane Geometry Using Non-stationary Traffic Surveillance Cameras

A tracking system is presented for obtaining accurate vehicle trajectories using uncalibrated traffic surveillance cameras. Techniques for indexing and retrieval of vehicle trajectories and estimation of lane geometry are also presented. An algorithm known as Predictive Trajectory Merge-and-Split (PTMS) is used to detect partial or complete occlusions during object motion. This hybrid algorithm...

Viewpoint Independent Detection of Vehicle Trajectories and Lane Geometry from Uncalibrated Traffic Surveillance Cameras

In this paper, we present a low-level object tracking system that produces accurate vehicle trajectories and estimates the lane geometry using uncalibrated traffic surveillance cameras. A novel algorithm known as Predictive Trajectory Merge-and-Split (PTMS) has been developed to detect partial or complete occlusions during object motion and hence update the number of objects in each tracked blo...
